About Lucky Day Puppy Rescue

Where Second Chances Begin

Founded in 2024, Lucky Day Puppy Rescue of Georgia, Inc. (Lucky Day Puppy Rescue) was born out of a shared passion for giving abandoned, abused, and neglected puppies the second chance they deserve. Our founding team recognized a heartbreaking gap in care: medically fragile and underage puppies—especially those under 8 weeks of age—were being overlooked by traditional shelter systems in northeast Georgia.

According to best practices from organizations like the American Society of Veterinary Animal Behavior (ASVAB) and American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), puppies this young should be placed in foster homes to protect them from communicable diseases. Yet, most traditional shelter-based rescues—already stretched thin caring for animals of all ages and situations—lack the resources and specialized environments necessary to care for these high-risk, high-needs babies. As a result, these puppies are often turned away, left with nowhere to go.

That’s where Lucky Day Puppy Rescue steps in.

Our Mission

At Lucky Day Puppy Rescue, our mission is simple, but powerful: to give every vulnerable puppy the chance to survive, heal, and thrive.

We accomplish this by focusing on four core pillars:

1. Emergency Medical Intervention: Providing immediate and comprehensive care for medically fragile puppies who would not survive in traditional shelters.

2. Loving Foster Placement: Ensuring each puppy is nurtured in a safe, home environment where they can recover, grow, and learn to trust humans.

3. Thoughtful, Thorough Adoptions: Conducting a rigorous application and vetting process to match each puppy with their perfect forever home.

4. Community Education: Raising awareness about pet overpopulation, the importance of adoption, and responsible pet ownership.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our work is made possible through the generosity of our community. Every donation helps give these puppies the fresh start they deserve.

Diane Tew

CPDT, CPBT – Co-Founder & Executive Director

Diane Tew’s lifelong love of animals started as a teenager, when she saved her babysitting money to bring home her first golden retriever puppy. That early experience blossomed into decades of compassionate animal care—spanning cats, chickens, donkeys, goats, horses, and more.

With over 15 years of experience fostering underage and special-needs puppies, Diane brings exceptional knowledge, intuition, and heart to her role at Lucky Day. Her dedication goes far beyond the basics of rescue—she specializes in rehabilitating puppies with medical or behavioral challenges and has a deep commitment to pairing each dog with the right family.

Her passion for learning is ongoing: Diane regularly participates in courses focused on canine behavior, health, and temperament to enhance her skills. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) and a Certified Professional Behavior Trainer (CPBT). Known for her “matchmaking magic,” she has an uncanny ability to find the perfect forever home for every pup in her care. She lives with three spoiled rotten canine companions who are a daily reminder of her mission.
